Bookshelf project

I was pretty happy with how this project turned out...that's why this one made it on here ;)

I got my Granny's old bookshelf (which probably came from Walmart...it's not even real wood). I spray painted it first rather than sand it. Since the bookshelf was free and not high quality, I felt more comfortable taking a chance with it. After I spray painted it, I painted it white with a brush.

I bought a $3 stencil at Home Depot and used some yellow paint I had bought for a bathroom a few years ago...WAY too yellow for a bathroom, but looks good for extra detail :) Then I added some turquoise dots to the stencil, some blue birds and parts of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" since that song makes me happy :)
Then I glued scrapbook paper to the inside (I was going to get some wallpaper, but Home Depot stopped selling it they said so I used some scrapbook paper I already had).

After I finished that I added a glaze mixture of greenish/brown paint and Martha Stewart glaze and painted it all (including the scrapbook paper). I wanted it to have an aged, dirty look to it.
And here is Rylan's new bookshelf :)

Btw, this room is now Antique Copper...I really didn't like the pink/fuschia color here.
